How to create your very own magnetic veggie clip
Ok so it sounded like a really cool idea to me and well I just had to do it. The dumb little suction thing on my veggie clip just wouldn't suck to the glass anymore so I went to buy a new one. When I arrived at the veggie clips section at my local fish store I saw a magnetic glass cleaner and it sparked an idea... How about a magnetic vegie clip that will never loose its suction?? And on 12-01-2007 the idea was born... follow these easy steps to create your very own suction free veggie clip...
First get your tools ready. You will need some aquarium rated silicone... thats it for the tools you will also need a vegie clip and a small magnetic glass cleaner I used the smallest mag-flaot I could find. All three of these items ran me under 15 dollars but you might get lucky and get it cheaper than I did if you dont just impulse shop like I did.
1st step:
Get your tools, veggieclip, and mag-float ready

2nd step:
get rid of the sucky suction thing.

3rd step:
apply a generous amount of aquarium sealant on the veggie clip and attach to the scratchy side of the mag-float. remember the scratchy side is the one that cleans the inside of the tank. the smooth side goes outside. Note: You may want to make sure you have the magneyt facing the correct way I failed to do that and now the sign for the mag float is upsidedown :( oh well it doesnt matter because its not like anyone is going to read it but it would have been nice.. I am a bit of a perfectionist... You dont want to put it on its side like picture here until it is dry. The silicone should dry in 24 hours but it is not recommended to put it in the tank until 48 hours. I know the wait killed me too.

4th step:
Your veggie clip should now look like this.

5th step:
Get yourself some veggie leafs and feed your vegetarian fish daily they will love you for it!!! When they are done eating simply pull the magnet and the clip will float to the surface.

Some things to consider before going out and making your veggie clip.
1. I used aquarium sealant because it could be easily peeled off in the event that you need to change your vegie clip in the future.
2. You may want a bigger magnet. Your glass may be thicker than mine and this small magnet is not really that strong. The larger one was actually cheaper than this timy 10 gallon one but well this one was perfect for my clown veggie clip. In case you are wondering the tank I use it in is an all-glass 92 gallon corner tank.
